We spent a short while with Ingrid, Chris the farmer, and about 10 of Chris’s sheep, in a very wet field last month. Mabel, our exuberant 2-year old Jack Russell, was very excited to see and chase these sheep, and couldn’t wait to get off the lead. (She was especially excited following the 3 hour drive from Worcestershire.)

In stepped Ingrid, who taught us to show Mabel who was in charge, such that chasing sheep was no longer in her best interests. We carried on practicing what we had learned for a few more days.

Now we can walk Mabel off the lead through the middle of a field of sheep, who she ignores with the same energy she used to use to try to chase them!
