“Meg continues to improve in her lead work and she will now walk to heel off the lead for as long as I want her to. It’s been a joy not to have to pull her back all the time and I have now regained the feeling in part of my left hand!
Thank you for your advice about ‘mental agility’. Our walks now include a session of ‘hide the ball’ which includes a long sit-stay while the ball is hidden. Meg is so pleased with herself when she returns with it and gets loads of praise but no treats – her ‘reward’ being the ball is hidden again! The mental energy she now uses to obey, behave and play is such that she’ll regularly be found in her crate before it’s time for us to go to bed but in the mornings she’s fully recharged and ready to go again.”
