DOG TRAINING ON A "ONE to ONE " BASIS
(click on courses for full dog training)

DOG TRAINING

A well trained dog makes for a happy dog and owner.
Having a trained and well behaved dog makes life so much more enjoyable for both of you. In order to achieve this I train the owner to train their dog.
After training with me, your dog will have complete freedom under control, will be totally relaxed and understand exactly what you require of him.

NON-RESIDENTIAL TRAINING

Dogs love to work and please their owners.
Therefore it is important that you are taught how to train your dog by giving clear and precise instructions. Commitment, consistency and putting the time and work in (2 hours a day) is vital to achieve the training.
In three one hour lessons over a period of six weeks (one lesson every fortnight), I will teach you:-
Behaviour in the home
Pack Leadership
Boundaries
Discipline
Obedience training to hand signals and a whistle
Nutritional advice
Socialisation

At the end of the course you will have a dog that:-

Walks to heal on a lead without pulling
Walks to heal off a lead at your side
Leaves your side on command
Sits, stays and comes to a whistle
Sits at a distance on a whistle and a hand signal
Does not chase livestock
Comes back every time on command on the whistle

Your dog will be happy and secure and know what you want and how to behave.

Please remember that once your dog is trained, it must be continued. Consistency from everyone is most important

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADVANCE YOUR TRAINING?

You and your dog are invited to join Janet on a fell walk with her guest dogs.

Now that you and your dog have completed the training course with Ingrid we can now offer an enjoyable and beneficial experience that will enable you both to feel confident, happy, relaxed and in control of your dog in all situations.

This is a wonderful unique opportunity for your dog to socialise and learn how to behave with other dogs and for you to gain confidence and experience.

Vaccinations must be up to date including the kennel cough and the certificate must be produced before the walk.

We look forward to enjoying your company on the fells.

RESIDENTIAL TRAINING

For clients who are unable to give the time and commitment, your dog can stay with me for four weeks and I will take full responsibility for every aspect of your dog and train it to my high standards. As well as the training routine your dog will accompany me on daily walks, socialise with my other guest dogs and towards the end of the stay will be used to the staff handling them. Amidst all of this there will be a lot of fun and having worked on such a close level we will be the best of friends.

At the end of the stay I require the owner/s to attend a two hour training session with me, so that they understand how to handle their dog. We will go up on the fell with their dog working so that they can see what we have achieved.

Over the month your dog and I will have bonded and become good friends with an understanding of each other and you must be prepared for a sad farewell, this is always hard for both of us.

LIVESTOCK WORRYING / SHEEP CHASING

A large percentage of people live rurally or walk with sheep and livestock around them and this can be very traumatic for owners. In some cases dogs have already chased sheep, maimed and killed, in other cases dogs have to live the rest of their life on a lead because the owners are not confident enough to let them off.

LIFE ON A LEAD IS NOT FUN AND FULFILLING

We offer a unique and special service for these problems and will be happy to help you. We can teach you how to gain confidence and have your dog off a lead around livestock without chasing.

Please keep in mind that living in the countryside, farmers do have the legal right to ask you to remove your dog from their land. They may even shoot it.

One 60 minute lesson could change your life forever.
